Welcome to the joint Project on Quantum Cryptography of the group "Quantum Technologies" at smart systems (a division of the Austrian Research Centers GmbH - ARC) and the group Quantum Experiments and the Foundations of Physics of the University of Vienna

smart systems Quantum Experiments and the Foundations of Physics
The Group "Quantum Technologies" was formed in 2002 with the aim in accompanying quantum physics on its way from the lab to the market. The Group is part of the division "smart systems" of Austrian Research Centers GmbH - ARC and has excellent expertise in the field of opto-electronics, software engeneering, safety, security and cryptography. The division smart systems is skilled with many years experience with application-oriented reseach and development. Their expert knowledge in science-management contributes to the success of this future-oriented new project. Professor Anton Zeilinger and his group "Quantum Experiments and the Foundations of Physics" have experimentally realized many fundamental predictions of quantum theory and so proved their amazing consequences for our view of the world. This experimental realization has also laid the foundation for completely new forms of technology, such as fields like quantum cryptography, quantum computation and quantum information processing. Most recently it has led to a new understanding of quantum mechanics. In 1998 the group realized and demonstrated for the first time world wide a quantum cryptography-setup based on entangled photons.
