Bibiane Blauensteiner studied technical physics at the University of Technology Vienna. She joined Prof. Zeilinger's group for her diploma thesis, in which she examined the spectral properties of single and entangled photons and participated in the setting up of the first quantum interference experiment with truly independent sources, which constitutes an important step towards real-world quantum communication technologies involving quantum repeaters.
