Hannes René Böhm is currently studying physics at the University of Technology Vienna. Beside his studies he worked as technical cosultant for an IP backbone operator. His responsibilities included the design and implementation of backbone infrastructure as well as the training of network engineers. Trying to combine his professional experience with phyics led to several study projects in the area of optical and quantum communication. In April 2002 he joined the Quantum Information Group of Prof. Zeilinger to work on his master thesis in the field of "Quantum Cryptography".
