Thomas Laenger studied Computer Sciences at the Technical University Vienna.
After having worked as software system designer and in internet projects with a
focus on security and cryptography, he started to work with the Austrian Research
Centers (ARC) in 2000, subdivision Safety and Security, where he also received his
evaluator training for the security standard ISO/EN 15408 “Common Criteria”.
In 2003 he joined the newly formed division Quantum Information Technologies of
ARC. He is responsible for the design and vital parts of the implementation of the
subproject “Certification According to Common Criteria” of the Integrated Project
SECOQC of the 6th framework programme and works together with Prof. S. Ghernaouti-Hélie
in the field of standardisation of quantum cryptographic components and interfaces.
His main areas of expertise are in the field of information technology security with an
emphasis on security assessment and certification, digital signatures, and public key
infrastructures.
